Loved the colours and prints used by Australian label Sass & Bide in their Autumn/ Winter 2011/12 Ready to Wear show. Their jeans are still hands down my favourite (needless to say, I have around 6-7 pairs!)

Heels or flats
Heels. Sky high ones. Those were the types of shoes I used to wear on a daily basis. 4" heels seemed normal and I never really had much of an issue walking or even breaking into a slight jog in them. Whether its the lengthening of the leg or the tightening of the calf muscles that create sexy, lean leg look, I sometimes wonder - are they worth the pain, icky callous-y bits on the foot and potential future visits to the podiatrist? No sure. These days I feel fine wearing a cute pair of ballet flats with any outfit, but obviously there are some occasions that just "need" a pair of heels to match.
What's worse is that I've witnessed several incidents of women nearly toppling over as their stiletto heel gets caught in the cracks of pavements. Its that slow-mo action as she's waving her arms in the air to prevent the fall, I'm thinking "o o o h noooooo". After that I almost always find myself thinking, "poor heels, the shoes could now be ruined cos of that crack in the sidewalk, they won't be the same again"...

Spotting something cool
You see something that someone else has, is wearing or is eating...and you think, "that's so cool, I wonder where that person got it from". When this happens to me, I always think to myself in hindsight that I should have just asked that person right there and then where they got it from. But being the wallflower that I am, I never think to, or can't strike up enough courage in myself to just openly engage in a conversation with a stranger. After all, we're all taught in school about "stranger danger" and not to talk to random people on the street. I guess at adult age, I have no reason to be shy, but regardless, I am often still stuck for words when I see something that someone else has that I find really cool. I guess I just have to learn to say "hello, that's really cool, where's it from?". Otherwise, just look, admire, move on and think to oneself "if its meant to be, it will come..." :)

DvF
Every now and then I am overtaken by mini fashion obsessions. I spotted a cute green leopard print tote by Diane von Fursternberg which reminded me to take a look at their latest collections online.
The prefall 2011 lookbook certainly evokes Autumn in every sense of the word. With its blue/green/mustard/burgandy-ish colours, the collection reminds me of walking through<(somewhere not in the city)> as the leaves on the trees are starting to turn yellow as the weather cools down.

Just like candy
I don't normally have a sweet tooth, but I couldn't go past these delectable options from the RTW Spring 2011 collections. They remind me of sherbet candies sizzling in the mouth and boiled lollies from a cute jar tied with a bow.

Its a little blue
With New York Fashion Week well underway, here's a few of my picks from the latest Spring 2011 collections based around a colour that reflects my mood this week...beautiful blue hues...
The blue and purple patterning works sweetly at Anna Sui:

Statement cocktails
My latest fashion obsession are statement cocktail style rings. There is something incredibly sexy and feminine about a soft, supple well manicured hand with a gorgeous eye catching ring on the finger. I think save the necklaces and earrings combination for another day, keep the neck and ears bare, pop on a pretty, chunky ring and you'll feel ready to stop traffic! Being someone who sits in front of the computer a lot, it helps to have something nice and interesting to look down at whilst typing.

My fashion hero
I had been on the hunt for a long, well fitted coat for what seems like 3 winters. Had no luck until I came across Australian label Arabella Ramsay. The hero-coat immediately ticked all the right boxes for me and I snapped it up when I found my size in a department store:
- Long, flowy and in a neutral colour - tick
- Feminine, elegant, transeasonal - tick
- Would suit a heroine from a Jane Austen novel - tick

Long hiatus
After what has been a rather long break (in the world of online content updates anyway), I am back! My love for fashion and art has not waned, it's merely been a lack of time (for I maintain a day job in the wonderful world of Information Technology) and the search for inspiration in my heart that had left me thinking...where to?! So, should I lag behind in posting my random musings, please do send me a friendly *nudge*.
I finally caved in and bought something from UrbanOutfitters online last night. I had been searching for grey coloured shoes of any type for a while, and I came across these grey suede t-strap heels from the "Kim Chi Blue" brand. There were only two reviews on the product, but both seemed positive.
Am looking forward to receiving them - am hoping they're good for walking as I am planning to take them on a short overseas trip in August. When it comes to shoes nowadays, whilst I still love wearing high heels, I can't deny that my feet yearn for a height less stressful on the arch. These look to be a good height.
